The RM570 million construction of the integrated transport terminal will be Kuala Lumpur’s main transportation hub, diverting traffic from the main city centre to outskirts of Malaysia. This capacious white building covers an approximate 49 acres that houses 6 floors, 55 bus platforms, 150 taxi bays, 1000 parking bays and 1800 seats in air-conditioned waiting halls.

Catering mainly to south-bound commuters from Kuala Lumpur, the terminal will boost public transportation in the country with user-friendly e-ticket booking and purchasing system. In addition, the station provides support for disabled passengers, with elevators and inclinations up and down uneven walkways, alongside stairways as well as escalators in all relevant areas of the station.

The station's unique design incorporated large semicircular roof curvature in longitudinal and latitudinal as shelters for platforms and the rest of the building. The
need to improve thermal resistance during the development of the roof construction was a challenge which ROCKWOOL was well positioned to respond to.

Using ROCKWOOL ThermalRock B50, the thickness of the insulation was increased not only to reduce the heat penetrating through the roof but also to provide better noise protection. This lightweight product, supplied in a compressed roll form, made for a quick and easy installation over large areas.

A total of 50,000m2 of ROCKWOOL stone wool was used in the twin skin metal roof system; supplied in 50mm thickness and installed in 2 layers. The mock-up developed for the project was one of the largest ever, providing architects with a good sample and confidence in the roof system. The roof is designed to achieve STC value of above 40.
